The Formula E season finale in London was anything but quiet. At the ExCeL circuit, which combines sections inside the exhibition centre with an outdoor section, the championship reached its final round with the title still undecided.
The first race of the weekend, held on Saturday, August 15, saw Pascal Wehrlein take an important victory in the championship standings. The Porsche driver started from pole position and remained in control of the race to the chequered flag, finishing ahead of Jake Dennis and António Félix da Costa.
Sunday was instead Taylor Barnard’s day. The British driver for DS PENSKE claimed his first Formula E victory in London, finishing ahead of Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara. The result came in the final race of the season and made Barnard the youngest winner in Formula E history.
The race, however, was mainly about the battle for the championship. Wehrlein arrived at the final E-Prix as the championship leader, but the situation changed several times during the race. In the end, the Porsche driver secured his second Formula E world title, completing a season that remained open until the very last race.
The 2026 London E-Prix also marked the end of the GEN3 era in Formula E. From next season, the championship will enter the new GEN4 era, while London once again proved to be one of the most distinctive venues on the calendar.
